Another idea I thought of this morning which would be simpler, would   be to have a table, display and petition at the Farmer's Market on   Sat. Sept. 19. It would be 2 days before the world wide push but   would require less work to organize. I would be willing to set it up   if we could get 2 or 3 others to come in to sit at the table and   take signatures. We would want to get a story in the paper and I   could look at that. Did you want to pass this on to the  group. Thanks John

I'd like to volunteer to be down at the market on Saturday morning. I was trying to think of something that our relatively small group   could pull together for the September 21 Wake Up Call... and was   thinking if maybe we all gathered at Harbour Quay with as much of   our own garden vegetables as we could muster... maybe we could   muster a magic number of 350 pieces of fruit and vegetables.  I know   I could bring a good dozen bundles of grapes, a bucket of plums,   lots of tomatoes. Gather them all down on the pier below the clock tower, it could   make for one great photo shoot (especially in the evening sun)! Anyway, I definitely think the Saturday morning presence at the   market would be key. The next meeting is this Wednesday, 7:30, Dan, are we on for your   place? Hi All,   for context, John sent a couple emails wondering about things we can do for the September 21 wakeup call that is being put on around the world to draw attention to the upcoming talks on carbon targets. This will definitely be something on the agenda for Wednesday night.  Bring your ideas! There is a list of registered events on avaaz.org Chris

PROPOSED FOOD EVENT – PLEASE REPLY BY WEDNESDAY Evenings : AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY Following the first meeting of the food group, it was suggested a second step would be to engage in a dialogue with one or more farmers to learn more about key issues in the valley. I have just had a one hour phone conversation with Anne Collins. She is very interested in collaboration and has invited up to 20 people from the food group and other TT members to convene on her and Bob’s farm The idea is that we would arrive at the farm between at 4:30 either the 23rd or 24th , get a tour of their operations, have either a pot luck or a meal they would provide (she is pricing a supper for us that would be all home grown)  and then in the after supper we would spend two or three hours examining some of the key issues related to the challenges and solutions to expand the _base_ for securing local food on a short to long term basis. I can guarantee this will be a great opportunity to get “our hands dirty” so to speak, and learn a ton. I know a lot about food but Ann and Bob knows a whole lot more. SO please fill in the following and get it back to me right away. Please fill out the following    put and X after your preference) Yes I will Attend      your name                                         Can Come  September 23                            Can Come   September 24 preference                      Either day works Prefer                       Potluck                      or Buy Home Grown and Prepared Meal                ( The food group plus other members of TT are invited. However, while this will no doubt be a fascinating opportunity for anybody that attends, I would really like to encourage TT members to come mainly if they are really interested in working on the food file or, alternatively, can recruit some one who is into the TT umbrella but capturing their interest in working on local food. There is going to be a lot of work ahead if we are serious about making a difference but it will be a great area of work to weave the fabric of our community into one that can sustain itself in the long term.   I will send out the results. Hi all, Great ideas, unfortunately I will not be able to attend this. julie From: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it [mailto This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ] On Behalf Of John or Diane Mayba Sent: Tuesday, September 15, 2009 7:39 AM To: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Subject: TTPA: Re: September 21 event thoughts and Meeting on Wednesday Hi Chris, I like your Sept. 21 idea. Now that I have had a good chance to look at the Avaaz action, I think we should just go with your idea, because a petition isn't really part of the plan right now. If we want to do our own petition we should probably take some time to look at the wording and how we can get the most mileage out of it. What time did you have in mind on Monday? I would be available between 4:30 and 6:45 since I have a Timbre rehearsal at 7:00. Perhaps we should try to get an article in Friday's paper in order to let every one know about the event. I can let Heather know so she could save us some space. See you tomorrow night at Dan's.
