Hello FMily, I recieved another diagnosis of DJD, degenerative joint disease a type of athritis. It was found to be in both of my hips by recent x-rays. I'm feeling down about it. I thought I would not have to deal with this kind of arthritis until I got much older like in my sixties. No, it had to come now! I have symptoms in my knees also but, I haven't had any x-rays yet. It has been getting harder and harder to bend down and get back up and more pain and stiffness. I am so tired of the different pains. I know you all are too with your various situations. I'm trying not to let this cause me to go deeper into depression so I would like some advice please. I am taking ibruprofen now 800-1000mgs. a day. I have swelling in both hips but, it's worst in the right one. I used to take pre- _script_ion strength years ago as Motrin and it messed my stomach up so I was told not to use it again. I'm taking less but, I would also like to try some natural anti inflammatory supplements. Could those that use natural products tell me what has worked best for them? I have some MSM and vitamin C 500mgs and use MSM cream. I think someone said Ginger was good and I use it on my food along with other herbs in a seasoning mix I make myself. It also has Curry, Garlic, Onion, Parsley, Kelp, Fennel, Cayenne and Curcumin. I use it on all my meats and vegetables and scrambled eggs. Thank you. CE-CE

Glucosamine and Chondroitin for your hips. Have they given you a prognosis, yet? It may be too early to be thinking about getting those hips replaced, tho' many folks have. You might wanna check it out on alt.support.arthritis. CE-CE Hugs, Rosie S. Dame of Dementia

I use it on all my meats and vegetables and scrambled eggs. Thank you. CE-CE Mmmmm. Okay. I stir a rounded teaspoon of ground turmeric (curcumen) into around 6 oz of milk. And down the hatch it goes. And that's that for awhile. You could put it in any liquid I suppose - just so you get it down and then chase it with a couple of gulps of plain whatever. It's quite mild, pleasant tasting - and it's a type of gingerroot. And it deals very well with inflammatory pain. Deirdre
