walk in shower Walk- In bathtub
Does any one have a walk in bathtub? I have a walk in shower in my ensuite and that is great, but there are times when a person just wants to have a bath. In my previous house I had grab bars on three sides, and with the help of a bath board, I was able to first lower myself onto my forearms on the board, and then lower myself into the tub. This method worked for me, but was highly frowned upon by the OT. In my new  house there is a one piece tub unit with the wall enclosure- what ever it is called. Because there is a gap between the wall and the unit there is no way that I can install grab bars, so there is no way I can get into that tub. The edge  of it is pretty narrow, and I don't think that my bath board would work at all. (I have not even tried to place it there). I have seen the advertisements for walk-in tubs, and they look good. You can even get them with jets. I have found one type at: http://www.safetybath.com/nograyimagereadyout.jpg and another at: http://www.seabridge.ws/ It is a substantial investment, so I need to know if it is worth it. Rose @}

You have a point, Joe. I will shop around. That one only has a three year warranty as well, whereas the one below has a 15 yr warranty. The advantage to teh other one is that it is a Canadian address, and there would not be import duty, etc. There is also: http://www.comfortbath.net/index.html It is a dilemma. I think that having a tub bath would help my back. Unfortunately a tub is not easy to get into. Rose @}

Hi Rose,    I have always loved the thought of a walk-in bathtub. Baths used to be my saving grace. Now, if I sit down in the tub, I can't get out. I miss my baths! I like that both of these are compact and the 2nd one is very deep. But, they both look very cramped, particularly the first one. If you have any trouble with your knees, I think you'd have trouble keeping them in the bent position they'd need to fit in the tub. If anyone makes one that's a few inches longer, I'd check that out. Seems to me it would be a hugely worthwhile investment if you could find one that's comfortable. Let us know if you decide on one.

This one looks a little bigger! Yeah, I'd shop around a bit. Is there any place near you that has a showroom for you to actually walk into one and see how much room you have when sitting? I like that the one above also offers a free ramp if the small step up is too much for anyone.

I will let you know if I decide on any. Too bad one does not live near where they have these displayed. It would be great to sit in one and see how it fits etc. I have requested brochures from some of the companies so that I can examine them better. This  one looks good too, and I think that this is the one that is advertised on tv. http://www.premierbathrooms.co.uk/english/company/ourcompany-e.htm Rose @}
