Most of you probably know whom I am talking about; America's first and only female president, Edith b.g. Wilson (although Hillary Rodham will have her day under the sun soon, and quite likely also Chelsea Rodham).  Actually, she was Pocky's great-great-great-great-great-great-great- granddaughter, but sometimes you have to sacrifice accuracy for the sake of conciseness. Many resolutions were passed during her rule; most importantly, woman's suffrage (ratified 1920). The fact that she and Woodrow Wilson's physician usurped the Presidency, the only known successful coup d'etat in American history, was discovered only after Wilson died. It appears that the Vice President at that time was a total jerk; he was not aware of what was happening in the White House. Also, not many politicians seemed to have cared a bit. Nowdays, if that kind of thing happens, the VP usually succeeds to the President's post. However, there is also an interesting WI _base_d upon Edith Wilson Presidency. WI someone more energetic than Harding or Coolidge became the Republican Candidate of 1920? (Both men were not very well known for their energy.) He could have brought Edith Wilson and the physician to trial, for treason. And, a legally literate person could have brought the case to the Supreme Court. At that time, the Chief Justice of Supreme Court would have been former President William H. Taft (appointed 1921), who held a long-standing grudge against Wilson. (Even if someone other than Harding became President, it is likely that Taft would still be appointed as the top dog of Supreme Court.) Harding, in OTL, ruled only for two and half years but appointed four justices. This new guy will also appoint the same number, and all of them would decide against Mrs. Wilson and her beau (the physician). It would have set a very firm precedent in US history; coup d'etats would  not be tolerated, and usurping the Presidency for any reason would not be allowed. Also, hundreds, maybe thousands of all laws signed by Wilson (actually signed by his physician) would have been invalidated. It would have completely eliminated two years from American History. A very nice thought. Most likely, Mrs Wilson and the Physician would have been sentenced to death, and pardoned by the President in the end.

She will marry a very dull person from the Upper class (with a capital U ), who will serve her like Franz I of the Habsburgs (whose primary function in life was being a sperm donor to Empress Maria Theresia).
