Hi Bob, (and all) I use a HP 8656a spectrum analyzer with an Octave Assoc. variable band pass preamp in front of it, but still need a scanner (disc out) and pulse signal grabber to get an actual picture of the code on the modulated waveform. Thanks Hi John, Obviously if you know the correct pulse train sequence ( and sometimes, pulse width relationship) you can reproduce the same results as anyone else using the same coded pulse train. This applies to garage doors, key chain home alarm controls, remote car door locks and car alarm controls, too. There are stories of techno crooks that buy equipment from techno Freakz and cruse around parking lots in major shopping centers utilizing this kind of stuff. It is more prolific in residental neighborhoods than shopping centers. The problem with this kind of techno freaking is that this type of electronics is not as prolific as it would need to be to pay off for the average crook There aren't that many electronic cars yet and using this type of thing in most neighbor hoods requires hanging around (fairly close in) for the moment of oppritunity to get the codes captured. This is too risky and time consuming. The users of this technology would be more likely to be Government Agency ops. or specialized CAT (pardon the pun) burglars that stake out special locations for highdollar heists. I have seen numerous ads for Universial Garage Door Openers and a Car alarm Killer, that sits on the hood of a car and turns off the alarm, using this kind of technology.
