WHY is this empty ship stopping and dialing every gate it sees anyway?   Oh, wait, not EVERY gate, just one in range at each stop.  If it was DELIVERING NEW GATES I'd understand, but an empty ship that stops, dials out, sits there for 12 hours (nice that the Ancients used our clock system), and takes off again? It was implied that the ship stopped at the gate on purpose because that was where to get the materials they needed to repair the ship.  And it wasn't exactly 12 hours, it was about 12 hours, and the Ancients did use their own numbering system (and everyone in Stargate speaks English anyway). On the other hand I must wonder just what kind of story arc they could possibly have if the ship stops at planets that are galaxies apart

And after 2 horrid plodding hours, it stops, just when they finally GET somewhere? Rush said that he told the ship that they were in trouble and needed to find a planet to gate to. Which doesn't address the incompentent show running required to spend two hours doing nothing.

9.  If they're not willing to ditch RI&ASG, at least have them not trust that he's telling them the truth.  Because my impression of him as of right now was that he would sell his grandmother, his right nut, AND his soul if it meant he could continue to play with the Ancient goodies.  No matter what sort of trouble this caused or who else got killed in the process. It isn't just clear, straightforward arrogance, that man is insane. Yeah, a potentially fantastic character. You seem to have a very fluffy narrow view of TV. You want old characters back, fluffy easy stuff and don't like non goody characters. You ideas would be bland and boring. In fact, you have no real criticism at all. And I certainly don't get your problem with the scientist. He is supposed to be iffy and clearly has more going on. Is the good or bad? What is his motivation? These are questions for the arcs of the show, not the bloody pilot. Its like you wanted a self contained movie, not a potential 5 year series. For what its worth, I though this was the best TV SG to date. Better written, very well acted by all, well shot, great CG, and a good start for a series. It set up some interesting questions to go forward with. My one and only worry is how they plays it all out, do they have a series long plan of some sort. Its potentially a good show. AC

I though this was the best TV SG to date. Better written, very well acted by all, well shot, great CG, and a good start for a series. It set up some interesting questions to go forward with. Ladies and Gentlemen, this has been a joke post.  If this had been a real post, you would be requested to tune in to disaster signals in your area.

And I didn't see Lou Diamond Phillips come through the gate to the ship; last I saw him was on the planet that blew up.  I don't really see how he can be 'recurring' He was on a x302.   And I guess those got aboard the Hammond before Sam jumped to hyperspace. Right, but the previews seem to show him on the ship.  Weird.

As far as the VideoGameKid, there is precedence for this both in films and novels. The Last Starfighter has already been mentioned, and don't forget Ender's Game .         I try to forget [Orson Scott Card].   When he went completely Book of Mormon in his stories, I decided enough was enough of that cult.
