Funny you should mention apple picking, Rubystar. Does picking apples in the market count? If I recall, in an earlier post, you mentioned an apple I'd never heard of - "Honey Crisp." Well, today, while shopping, I found them.......for $3.99/pound! It must cost a fortune to bring these apples here from whatever distant planet they come from. After tasting one, I went back & bought 10. They're REEEELY good! After reading this, the next person will be looking for "honey crisp" apples.@ Sun Fun DayMessage #10: @ Sun Fun Day Posted by: missy99687 Date: Sep 21, 2009.OK - Ya got me!!! Now, where are those apples!!!??? I love finding new foods... The next person will eat salmon sometime this week...@ Sun Fun DayMessage #11: @ Sun Fun Day Posted by: xring Date: Sep 21, 2009.Well, Missy, I doubt you'll find a "Gelson's" or "Whole Foods" market where you are, but if you do, or if you find a similar market, they might carry them. They might also be found at one of those "Farmer's Market" types of produce stands if there are any there. I'd say they're well worth looking for. @ Sun Fun DayMessage #12: @ Sun Fun Day Posted by: rubystar2 Date: Sep 21, 2009.Honey Crisp apples are much cheaper here. I know the local apple orchards grow them so maybe that's why they are cheaper. I go right to the orchards and buy a 3# bag of Honey Crisp apples. They are absolutely wonderful. A 3# bag is about $6.00. They are my favorite apple, followed closely by Gala apples. Yum, yum, yum!@ Sun Fun DayMessage #13: @ Sun Fun Day Posted by: 06deluxerider Date: Sep 21, 2009.False - Hubby doesn't like salmon so I only eat it when he's going to be gone. The next person will go to a lake this week and enjoy the wonderful weather. Debbieblood glucoseblood glucoseMessage #2: blood glucose Posted by: missy99687 Date: Sep 21, 2009.Your liver's delivery of stor ed glucose also is what wakes you up in the morning.... you simply can NOT skip meals either or the same thing will happen. Your body needs you to keep it balanced, since it is having a problem in that area now...that's what is going on, our pancreas are out of balance, the cells can't recognize the insulin so getting "food" (glucose) into one's cells is more difficult. Cells NEED glucose - it's their MAIN food source. It'll burn something else, but you REALLY don't want for THAT to happen.blood glucoseMessage #3: blood glucose Posted by: phototaker Date: Sep 21, 2009.That happened to me for a very long time. I find if I take some snack around 9:00, like 1/2 apple with almonds, a piece of chicken, Cherrios and Soymilk, it helps to bring my numbers down in the morning. Try it and experiment. It might help.Type 2 Diabetes: Michael Dansinger, MDBlood Gucose testingInitial Message Posted by: mlbaco Date: Sep 21, 2009.Normally I test one of my fingers on my left hand this morning I did it on the right hand and got a 251. I immeadately did it on one my left hand and got a 169. Does this make sense??Blood Gucose testingBlood Gucose testingMessage #1: Blood Gucose testing Posted by: rubystar2 Date: Sep 21, 2009.Did you wash your hands right before testing? That is always recommended. Sometimes there could be something on your hands that may interfere with the testing. Maybe from handling foods, lotion, etc. I'm assuming your are right handed so maybe you handled something with your right hand that had something that interfered with the testing. If that happens again, I would try washing my hands, drying thoroughly and retesting in the same general area as the first test.Blood Gucose testingMessage #2: Blood Gucose testing Posted by: xring Date: Sep 21, 2009.As Rubystar said, washing your hands is very important to eliminate false readings from everything you touch between testings. When I'm not near soap & water, I use alcohol pads on all fingertips before testing. (fingers must dry completely before testing so the alcohol doesn't interfere with the test. Before putting alcohol pads in my test kit, I once started feeling hungry while driving & pulled over & tested - 188. Since I was close to home, I washed my hands & tested 5 minutes later - 86. I remembered eating an apple before leaving the house & just wiping my hands with a napkin. I read about an interesting ex periment a non-diabetic CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) did. First, she washed her hands & tested - at 88. Then, she tested after handling various foods without washing her hands & just wiping her hands with a napkin. The results were readings that ranged from 160-450.Blood Gucose testingMessage #3: Blood Gucose testing Posted by: phototaker Date: Sep 21, 2009.That is very interesting. I have soap and water right where I test and always wash my hands before testing. Sometimes, they're a little too wet and I have to dry them better, though.ExercisingExercising - JDMessage #11: Exercising - JD Posted by: missy99687 Date: Sep 21, 2009.Giggle - JD, that's nothing more than aerobics for the fingers!!!
