On August 23rd, my wife of 15 months filed for divorce, but, after realizing it was a purely emotional decision, she moved back in and decided not to go through with the divorce and seek counseling.   Then, on August 28th, she abruptly moved out of our home and in with her parents after claiming that she had been diagnosed as manic-depressive/bipolar .  We are now in the inventory stage of the divorce action she filed. After she moved out, I found 2-years worth of her journal which detailed her involvement in a 1996 drug bust (which occurred on federal property).  She had told me that she was never charged with anything and had only received a ticket.  Her boyfriend took the fall for possession of cocaine, marijuana and a firearm and did 6 months house arrest and paid some heavy fines.  However, the letter which she had written to her parents, but never sent, told how the cocaine in her boyfriends' truck was hers after all! Her journal also revealed other shocking details of about the woman I thought I knew. Before we were married, she had told me about her ex-husband.  She told me that he had divorced her because he was tired of being punished for what he did to her and their family.  She said that he was an absentee father who had neglected his children, but, worst of all, he had fathered a child with another woman after being caught in numerous extra-marital affairs!  She told me that she had slept on the couch for the last 2 years of her marriage out of disgust for his adulterous behavior.  She told me how he forced her and their children onto welfare after he had emptied their bank account and left her penniless. And I believed her. She then told me the story of how her first fiance had gotten her pregnant, then decided that he wasn't ready to be a father!  Having suffered through the helplessness of watching my ex-wife abort my first child, I asked her, slowly and deliberately, WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THE BABY?  She recounted how she had rejected the advice of her fiance and her parents to terminate the pregancy.   She told me that while waiting to have the baby, she had miscarried. I remember how I told her how proud I was of her for not making such a cowardly and unfair choice.  I even recall telling her parents at their home how proud I was of her for not making that choice! And I believed her. I asked her these questions because I was 36 years old and struggling to provide a stable home environment for my 5-year-old twins.  (I never asked for a divorce in my first marriage nor did I believe the circumstances warranted it  - and I still don't.)  THEY HAD ALREADY SUFFERED THROUGH THE DESTRUCTION OF ONE FAMILY, IT DIDN'T WANT TO PUT THEM THROUGH IT AGAIN!!!   I didn't want to become involved with anyone who would not only be unfaithful to her husband, but who would choose to be so irresponsible as to terminate the life of a child she had willingly participated in creating! Her journal, however, told a totally different story! It turns out that she has had at least FOUR affairs and TWO abortions! She has been gloating over how much she is expecting to receive in our divorce settlement.  But after learning the truth about her past, I've been giving the thought of getting our marriage annulled some serious thought.  My former attorney says that I don't have enough grounds, but I've read the Texas statute regarding annulments and it says that fraud is a valid reason. My strategy is to tell her, her parents and her attorney that I intend to send her cocaine confession  letter to the Corpus Christi police department if she doesn't agree to a speedy annulment, repay me the money I've already given her for the divorce, pay her own attorneys' fees and go away.  I'm also prepared to send to the court evidence of how she and her parents deceived the court, her ex-husband and his attorney by hiding the fact that she was in a drug rehab center for cocaine addiction IN THE MIDST OF THEIR 1996 DIVORCE!  She was granted custody of their children because her ex had no proof of her behavior!!
